sometimes it's the simple things
like a rogue elderberry umbel hidden among the canopy of undulating foliage
the berries crushed with sugar to form a tiny amount of vibrant syrup
and drizzled over a meringue with cream
sometimes it's the simple things
like an autumn afternoon chatting with a friend
drinking cups of tea
drinking cups of tea
and sewing, reading magazines and eating
yes, sometimes it's the simple things
that lift our spirits
meringue nests with cream and elderberry syrup |
Wow! Meringue and elderberry syrup......heaven :-)
ReplyDeletethanks wcd..i'm looking forward to the day when i can bottle elderberry syrup rather than boil the meagre berries from one umbrel!
DeleteConsider my flagging spirits elevated Jane :). Gorgeousness and if my 16 chooks EVER decide to lay me an egg again, these are on the agenda instantly! Note... I KNOW that one of our chooks laid an egg yesterday. She, and her sisters all cackled for about 30 minutes to herald the event HOWEVER I had let them out and they were running wild and the clucking was coming from down in the blackberry patch in the jungle bit so it can stay there! ;)
ReplyDeletethanks trts..i remember my hens used to lay in funny places too..i think we must have had a resident snake because i would often see an egg under the bushes and remind myself to get it only to find it completely gone a few hours later..i don't think the girls were the culprits because there was no trace of yolk or shell..
DeleteYum, this looks like simple perfection Jane, happy autumn days to you!
ReplyDeletehappy autumn to you too jane..x
